چکیده

Cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) is used increasingly in medicine to determine whether the health benefit of an intervention worth economic cost. Discrete event simulation (DES) playing increasing role CEA thanks several advantages, such as possibility modeling time and heterogeneous populations. It usually implemented with general-purpose programming languages or commercial software packages. To our knowledge, no artificial intelligence technique has been applied DES for CEA. Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Smoking Cessation Interventions in Japan Using a Discrete-Event Simulation.

BACKGROUND Smoking cessation medications have been shown to yield higher success rates and sustained abstinence than unassisted quit attempts. In Japan, the treatments available include nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and varenicline; however, unassisted attempts to quit smoking remain common. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to compare the health and economic consequences in Japa...

Capacity constraints and cost-effectiveness: a discrete event simulation for drug-eluting stents.

BACKGROUND Waiting times for access to care, for example, for diagnostic imaging or surgery, are a highly relevant issue in health care. Waiting or deferred treatment caused by limited resource capacities can affect treatment success, quality of life, and costs. However, when treatment alternatives are compared in economic models, often unrestricted availability of resources is assumed, and dyn...

A JAVA-BASED FRAMEWORK FOR DISCRETE EVENT SIMULATION A framework for Discrete Event Simulation and MOdeling

The system presented bridges the gap between three different research areas: discrete event simulation, heuristic optimization methods and distributed systems technology. Its goal is to provide a framework which supports an efficient implementation of simulation optimization projects, including heuristic optimum seeking procedures and parallel execution of experiments. It is written completely ...

Reduction of production disturbances of a shoemaking industry through a discrete event simulation approach

This study presents a reduction of production disturbances of a shoemaking industry through discrete event simulation approach. The study is conducted at Peacock Shoe factory found in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  This factory faces line balancing problem that becomes production disturbance for its assembly lines. Detail time study is carried out for the selected shoe model using stopwatch. Assembly ...

Discrete Event Simulation and Petri net Modeling for Reliability Analysis

Analytical methods in reliability analysis are useful for studying simple problems. For complex networks with cross-linked (non-series/parallel) component configurations, it is difficult to use mathematical reliability analysis. Powerful methods for reliability analysis of such systems have been developed using discrete event simulation. The main drawback of these methods is that they are compu...
